Bumblebee: The Movie - Trailer Review

WELL, THAT WAS DIFFERENT.

It's been a long time since I've done a trailer review and with the latest trailer of Bumblebee Movie, I had to talk about it because this trailer was really good. Now the Transformers movies haven't really been well received for the past decade or so. So here are my thoughts on it.

We see Bumblebee in a rusty yellow Volkswagen car being handpicked by Hailee Steinfeld character (Charlie Watson) and for those that don't know in the first, second or third movie, a character in the franchise did say that several Transformers were on Earth a long time ago, in the 80s, and a Transformer was disguised as a Volkswagen to hide from humanity. It also has the voice-over of the late Bernie Mac saying "YOU don't pick the car, the car picks you". So that was pretty cool.

“The driver don’t pick the car, the car pick the driver. It’s a mystical bond between man and machine.”

We, then see, Bumblebee transform and to my surprise, he wasn't massive like how he was in the previous movies, he was relatively small and cute. And from the vibe of the movie, it feels like an Iron Giant movie, which is such a great movie, highly recommend it. It then cuts to a montage of what's to come with the movie and another thing that was surprising, not a lot of action/explosions in which Michael Bay is known for. We finally see STARSCREAM, the real Starscream, not the one we got because that looked nothing like him.

You can tell that the director wanted to go with the classic looks of the Transformers, instead of these super fast expensive cars.

The true Starscream in which we were supposed to have in the beginning.

You can tell from the trailer that this is going to be a much more personal story. According to the director, this movie isn't going to have a lot of Transformers, just a couple. Which is good because, at this point, I don't much of them other than the iconic ones. We also see John Cena who is playing an agent of Sector 7.

And the ending to this trailer was pretty funny, Hailee inserts a cassette tape into Bumblebee because he can't talk, music is a great way to say how you are feeling, and it plays the 80s hit song “Never Gonna Give You Up" and he spits it back out. This was a running gag in the old movies, he would play a ton of music to speak to people.

But yeah, overall, I liked the trailer. I REALLY hope this movie is good because the Transformers movies need a win, to be honest. This movie isn't directed by Michael Bay, he's pretty new, Travis Knight, he directed Kubo and the Two Strings. So if you are a fan of that, you might like this movie.

I really hope this is a good Transformers movie.
So Bumblebee: The Movie trailer, have you seen it, what do you think about the trailer? Do you think it's going to be a good movie or bad? Who is your favourite Transformer?
