Have no fear, here comes a hero who's only doing it for fun. Enter Saitama. One Punch Man is an ongoing Japanese webcomic that was created by the author called One. It then turned into an ongoing manga series that started it's publishing in 2012, One is still the writer for the series while Yusuke Murata is handling the art.
This manga BLEW UP when the anime aired back in 2015. I mean there was so many memes, fan art, gifs and just recently the manga series has been picked up by Viz Media so we can also read the manga with English translation. I've started collecting them as well. The Japanese animation studio called Madhouse animated the show and they did a FANTASTIC job. I mean, it's almost identical to the manga.
Can't wait to have volume 8. The 12 eps cover Vol 1 to Vol 7
The story goes as follows, strange and powerful monsters are appearing in the metropolis city of Z or Z-City and causing havoc. This results in having superheroes rise up and protect the city. However, one man is far superior than the rest and that is Saitama, a man who is so powerful that he can defeat an enemy with ONE PUNCH, hence, the title One Punch Man. But, since Saitama is so OP (over-powered) he hasn't found a worthy opponent to fight him evenly or without one punch. The plot is straightforward but, what it makes up for it are its comedic element and over-the-top action and I mean OVER THE TOP guys and gals.
Saitama lives up to the title of 'One Punch Man' ,doesn't he?
I can't really go into detail of the action or the story because one it's so awesome and two, the story is still ongoing and I don't want to spoil myself of the handful of characters that have and will appear in the anime/manga. I encourage you guys to watch this anime, it was Anime of the Year for me and it definitely deserved it because it's making fun of current manga series that have long battles, for example, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail and many others. Oh, and if there's one thing that Saitama hates is that he doesn't like hearing about a person's past, you will come to find that out in episode two.
The Heroes that appear in Season One
If you're thinking that this is a long anime series, it's not. Only twelve episodes and seven extra episodes that you can watch or don't. The anime series has been released but, I don't have a link for you guys to watch. (I'll try and find one if I can). All in all, One Punch Man is a perfect manga/anime series and after the anime was going on its twelfth episode, the artist is going to try and make season two a reality. The animation is perfect, the characters are funny, monster designs are really well thought out, the music is dope and the action is by far crazy good.
So, One Punch Man, have you seen it, what did you think about? Who is your favourite character in the One Punch Man universe? Mine would have to be Atomic Samurai, Tornado and Bang. Comment below, spread this article around, remember to follow me on Twitter (@dmyxxxx) and I'll see you next time. Later guys.
P.S. The opening song is the best ever, I always watched it everytime it came on. And to be honest, the japanese dub is by far better than the english dub.
